Nest Arcade is a crypto gaming platform with its personalized NFT marketplace. The platform features multiple old-school games like Subway Surfer, Meta Birds, etc.

Within the Nest Arcade platform, any user can connect (via Solana), play games, earn Nest Tokens, trade NFTs and use their own NFTs to play games.

Project Scope

Tye Howatt (one of the co-founders) reached out to us to design the entire Nest Arcade platform starting from games to the NFT marketplace.

Our goal was to build a platform similar to Netflix but replace movies and shows with Games, NFTs, and rewards.

Goals

→ Design an extremely creative UI
→ Platform must be super easy to use
→ Games flow with a Leaderboard
→ Robust NFT marketplace but not complicated
→ Reward system to improve engagement

Challenges

→ Communication gap, the client is too busy
→ Playing in the dark theme with Neon colors
→ Making the game UX easy & quick (2 Clicks)
→ Combining gaming, rewards, and NFTs together

Outcomes

We are in the final phase now and the results are promising. The client loved the stylescapes as well as the HFD (first cut) for the Web App.

The entire app turned out to be around 25 screens.

Styleguides

Based on our discovery session with Tye and the team, we managed to come up with three different styleguides.

Nest-arcade-styleguide

We both were aligned with the Neon colors on the dark theme. The reason was simple, the combination of blockchain with gaming.

1. Neon Blue to pop out
2. Dark blue bg (not common black)
3. Blurred shadow with color
4. Modern Sans Serif font
5. Cool and clean UI design
6. 3D Icons for creativity

Ux Design

Based on the approved sitemap, we were supposed to build the UX for 25 pages with no action being more than 3 clicks away.

The entire UX was build on the basis of client discovery document and references shared.

UI Design

Lastly, in the design phase, we were supposed to build high fidelity designs with interactive prototypes for desktop devices.

I scraped multiple references before coming up with the final look of the Web App.

We had 3D icons, blur-colored shadows, neon colors, and other creative design elements, and trust me it was a difficult one to crack. Still, after 2-3 iterations, I found the sweet spot.

Tools and Technology

The outcome was loved by the client. We are into the 6th week. Hopefully, in a couple of more weeks and the final design will be ready.
